ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: SASHA SMARDAK

@supercooolgrandpa is our youngest artist we’ve worked with thus far, and we already know she’s going to do BIG THINGS in her creative career!

Sasha Smardak is a Nashville-based artist and recent graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design. As a textile sculpture artist, Sasha’s work challenges traditional perceptions of craft by reimagining it as a medium for bold, representational sculptural work. Rooted in the tactile intimacy of crochet - a practice often relegated to domestic and decorative spaces - Sasha uses this craft to create large-scale dynamic forms that explore the intersection of craft and fine art. Her work invites viewers to reconsider the physicality, labor and cultural significance of handmade work. By pushing the boundaries of what crochet can achieve, she aims to elevate it beyond its conventional associations, asserting its place in the contemporary art dialogue. Sasha explores the resilience of craft traditions, the beauty of imperfection, and the creative potential of sustainable materials. Her goal is to spark conversations that bridge the gap between craft and high art, encouraging a deeper appreciation for the power and possibilities of female-dominated, traditional skills.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: TUCKER EASON (and the worlds most adorable artists assistant, Seeks)

@2kreason is one of the most dedicated rising stars we’re come across in the NYC Art scene!

“Tucker is a proud Colorado son making work in Brooklyn, NY.” After studying at the Art Center College of Design and Occidental College in Los Angels, Tucker ventured north to give his art practice a shot in the Bay Area. His inagural group show at the DeYoung Museum is ultimately what inspired him to move his practice to Brooklyn, where he continues to create powerf work today. He uses his art as a catalyst for conversations about class, the beauty of everyday objects, and his proud blue collar history that makes him who he is. His work touches on themes of labor, class and exploitation. Some of his biggest influences are artists such as Rauschenberg, Thiebaud, Holzer, Kiefer, and Baldessari. Through countless long studio hours and ruthless dedication, Tucker is really making a name for himself in the competitive art world, and has no plans of slowing down anytime soon.

“My art practice is a tribute to the utilitarian and an homage to the working class. Using direct representation or symbolic objects I nod to the quiet solitude of blue-collar work, and honor their underappreciated burden. The inclusion of iconography from luxury brands quietly suggests the commodification of the proletariat while insisting on the important role of the masses. My work serves as a commendation to the overlooked laborers who sustain society, highlighting the elegance and significance found in their everyday tools and tasks. By honoring the analog workhorse and emphasizing simplicity, I invite viewers to appreciate the beauty and dignity inherent in the lives of those unseen.”

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: SARAH LOCKWOOD-TAYLOR

@sarahlockwoodtaylor is an award-winning English artist best known for her textile-influenced painting and print work. Over the last 21 years, Sarah has lived in 6 different countries, giving her a unique and well-rounded global perspective on art. This has influenced her work immensely, and allows her to create work that is simultaneously dramatic and arresting, but also distinct and highly desirable.

She began her career working alongside major garment designers in the UK. She went on to create major shifts in the UK’s interior design market by pioneering Indian textile and homeware designs for major retailer, Marks & Spencer. Sarah then progressed to create internationally sought after high-end designs for the emerging boutique hotel segment around the world.

During her time in Nigeria in the 1990s, her work received national attention following an exhibition at the British High Commission and she continued to blend global influences during her time in Malaysia and Singapore. She began to explore silkscreen techniques and her Singapore period generated her most dramatic work.

Over the last several years, Sarah has taken the next step in her rich artistic life in the discovery of block printing. Most recently, Sarah has been passionate about linoleum. She has always used this medium in her textile designs but now is discovering it for individual pieces. Sarah’s surroundings, family, lifestyle and love of animals play a central part in her designs. Her work has been exhibited and sold around the world and has been featured on national television.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: JOHN STANGO

We love John for his amazing dedication to a truly American art form: POP ART 😍

Born and raised in Philadelphia, John Stango was always meant to be an artist. John’s mother, Frances Elaine Rockwell, was a gifted painter, and passed her skillset on to her son.
However their talent outdates them both, as their family lineage traces back to another incredible American artist - Norman Rockwell. So creativity and artistry truly runs in their veins!

John attended the Tyler School of Art at Temple University and graduated with a BA in Painting and Graphic Design. He went on to pursue an early career in merchandising and display art for huge retailers such as Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s. His career as an independent artist really began to take off after some of these big-box stores began to carry John’s original screen-printed shirts in their inventories.

Still based in Philly, John is now a full-time artist currently working out of a large backwoods warehouse. His work draws a diverse crowd of collectors, having been shown and sold all over the world. His creative reinterpretations of classical American Icons resonate deeply in 21st century America. While art is his passion and career, John is also deeply committed to philanthropy, utilizing his art to give back to his community, with a percentage of his proceeds going to benefit different charities around the world.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: SHARON O’SULLIVAN

@sharosullart is THE definition of an absolute BOSS.

Sharon O’Sullivan is an NJ based artist who splits her time between Summit, NJ and Martha’s Vineyard, MA. She has a BS from Fordham University and had a powerhouse career in global partnerships in media and then with the non-profit, Global Citizen. Over the last several years, Sharon dedicated her full focus to her art and has since become a blossoming full-time artist.

Sharon has studied art at the Art Students League of NY, the Visual Arts Center of NJ, Rutgers University, the School of Visual Arts in New York, and Featherstone Center for the Arts. She has a small art collective in Summit, NJ that focuses on abstract and non-representational art and is the co-chair of the Summit Public Art Committee in Summit, NJ.

When viewing Sharon’s work, you can experience and feel where the artist was emotionally when it was created. As an intuitive abstract artist, her work is expressive and utilizes a wide palate of color, textures, and surfaces. Pieces are painted in oil across surfaces ranging from canvas to steel, wood board, and on her photographs. She has evolved her painted art on metal to include sculpting in steel.

As a continuation of her work in non-profit and their commitment to end extreme poverty, a percentage of all sold artwork is donated to an organization supporting these issues with FACE Africa being the recipient in 2024 and 2025.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: JENNY REINHARDT

@jenny_reinhardt is an NJ-based artist with a studio in the Valley Arts District of Orange, NJ. She studied English Literature at the University of Michigan and went on to receive her MFA, Cum Laude, from the New York Academy of Art. In her early career, she spent time teaching studio art and art history, and has since transitioned into a successful full-time working artist. She’s had solo exhibitions globally, including with La Sorta in Venice, Italy, Shit Art Club in Los Angeles, California, and with us here RAM Gallery in Summit, NJ. She’s currently in residence at Lackawanna Station in Montclair, NJ, where you can catch a glimpse of some of her incredible new work!

“Jenny Reinhardt’s work investigates the sentient and material experiences of life on Earth in relation to the vast, elusive dimensions of metaphysical experience. Her practice is grounded in a dialogue between the tangible and the transcendent—a tension that runs through both form and content. Every iteration of her artistic choices is anchored by these concepts, serving as the touchstone of her creative process.”

One of the most unique and “untraditional” materials she works with, that we can’t get enough of, are maps from around the world.

It is with much frustration towards NJ transit that we have to POSTPONE our Coffee Talk, with artist Karen Margolis, that was originally scheduled for tomorrow afternoon 😔

Unfortunately with the strike, there is no easy or affordable way for our artist and patrons who reside in NYC to get to the gallery.

We headed to Chester Township, NJ to check out this years rendition of @mansioninmay , and we are ready to move in! The design was fantastic, the art was stunning, and the cause is phenomenal.

Mansions in May is a designer showhouse and gardens showcase that is expertly curated by top designers in the area and presented by the Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center, with the goal of raising funds to assist in advancing the quality of healthcare in the community. This years goal is to raise $2 million to contribute towards a new Proton Therapy Center at Morristown Medical Center.
