Feminal Ties, explores the parallels between naturally occurring root and vine formations and the complex, intertwining fibrous structures found in nature. These forms, which resemble intricate labyrinths, evoke a sense of connection to the human experience. In a time when humanity feels increasingly fragmented and disconnected, these organic structures serve as powerful reminders of our shared biological roots. They symbolize the inherent ties that bind us all, reflecting both the convolutedness and the fragility of our interconnection.
Inspired by nature’s quiet resilience, each work in this collection celebrates the feminine forms I constantly encounter in the natural world, curves, folds, and entanglements that echo the softness, strength, and generative power of women. As I create, I think about the harrowing realities faced by women, trans people, and minorities across the globe and the ongoing war on bodily autonomy. In these moments, nature becomes both a sanctuary and a demonstration: it is inherently feminine, constant in its cycles of renewal and growth, despite relentless attempts at erasure or control.
